The Top 10 K-Drama Kisses Of 2016
With Valentine’s Day coming up, what better way to celebrate than to recognize all the electrifying shmooches from our favorite K-dramas of 2016. Kiss scenes are so essential in a K-drama, especially when there’s a love story involved (which is basically all the time). Some kiss scenes can make you scream, cry, or jump for joy.
Brace yourselves as we have a look at Soompi’s top 10 sizzling nominees for best kiss (in no particular order) in the 12th Annual Soompi Awards.
Leading up to the airing of this drama, Lee Jong Suk and Han Hyo Joo showed that they were bursting with chemistry. From the photo shoots to the behind-the-scenes clips, these two looked perfect for each other. This chemistry definitely helped for their hot and heavy kiss scenes, especially that handcuff scene; Oh Yeon Joo (Han Hyo Joo) was willing to do just about anything for her true love, Kang Chul (Lee Jong Suk), and this was also the first time he had reciprocated her love.
Watch “W”:
The emotional rollercoaster that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo’s characters went through made the pick-up truck kiss scene so much more satisfying to viewers. It brought so much joy to see Kang Mo Yeon (Song Hye Kyo) finally let her guard down and let Yoo Shi Jin (Song Joong Ki) into her heart. It was always hard for Kang Mo Yeon to ever know if Yoo Shi Jin was going to return from the field in one piece, which made it that much harder to let him into her life. This kiss scene pretty much sealed the deal between the two. No more break-ups!
Watch “Descendants of the Sun”:
This fairy tale love story is almost every girls dream. Shim Soon Duk (Seo Ye Ji) was the lover of Yoon Shi Woo (Lee Hyun Woo), who played an idol, and on top of that, she had some lovey-dovey kiss scenes with him. The lucky Seo Ye Ji showed us K-pop fans what it would be like to date an idol or bias and it was satisfying to live vicariously through her character.
Watch “Moorim School”:
There’s nothing better than an emotional kiss scene, especially after a fight. There’s also that staple running after the woman and then kissing her as she turns around. This kiss scene is an especially romantic part in “Lucky Romance” because it happens right after Shim Bo Nui (Hwang Jung Eum) tries to break up with Je Soo Ho (Ryu Jun Yeol). Unable to believe her words, he doesn’t let her go without a fight. So romantic!
Watch “Lucky Romance”:
Sigh. How much more sweet and endearing can these two be? Louie (Seo In Guk) and Go Bok Sil (Nam Ji Hyun) are totally smitten with each other when they share a cute and intimate kiss in a book store. Doesn’t it give you butterflies seeing Louie hold her hand while he’s kissing her? It’s so soft and sweet!
Watch “Shopping King Louie”:
There were many kiss scenes in “Doctors” that were pretty steamy. Despite the age difference, Yoo Hye Jung (Park Shin Hye) and Hong Ji Hong (Kim Rae Won) showed that age doesn’t matter when it comes to chemistry. The kiss in the rain and the passionate kiss on the doll claw machine was exciting to watch, especially because of the fact that their love was unrequited for almost 10 years. Their kisses showed their desire and passion for each other!
Watch “Doctors”:
The first kiss between Lee Young (Park Bo Gum) and Hong Ra On (Kim Yoo Jung) in “Moonlight Drawn By Clouds” was so innocent and pure that it was hard not to have butterflies. What even made it more intense was Lee Young’s heartfelt and infamous confession, “I’m going to try it once. That wicked love.” This whole kiss scene reminded you of that irresistible first love story that makes your heart burst with love.
Watch “Moonlight Drawn by Clouds”:
This is a couple whose kiss scenes are hard to forget. Their chemistry was a huge factor, but it was also the story behind these two lovers. Their inability to be with each other made their kiss scenes that much more intense and passionate. Although there were many scenes worth mentioning, the one that was most memorable was the kiss when Park Do Kyung (Eric Mun) had Oh Hae Young (Seo Hyun Jin) were fighting and then suddenly broke out in a passionate kiss against the wall.
Watch “Another Oh Hae Young”:
I think everybody’s jaws dropped when they saw this confession scene between Wang So (Lee Joon Gi) and Hae Soo (IU) in “Scarlet Heart: Goryeo.” The simple words “I love you” triggered a wave of emotions that made this kiss scene one of the most unforgettable ones of 2016.
“Don’t Dare to Dream” had its fair share of steamy kiss scenes, but the first kiss between Pyo Na Ri (Gong Hyo Jin) and Lee Hwa Shin (Jo Jung Suk) was really hot to say the least. As the two are in the midst of an intense and emotional fight, they finally lock lips. The rain in the background added to the depth and passion of this scene. Ugh, so sweet!
