Koreans More Pessimistic About Social Mobility (2016/12/18)

Half of all Koreans believe their children will not be able to attain a higher social status than their own, a large-scale survey suggests.
Statistics Korea on Monday said the survey of 39,292 people showed that only 30.9 percent of respondents believe their children have a strong chance of bettering themselves. But 50.5 percent said the chances of their kids gaining a higher socio-economic status are slim and 18.5 percent were not sure.
